A Wolcott man has been indicted and charged following a child sexual abuse investigation that began nearly three years ago, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators say Jason Edwards, 43, was arrested Friday on a charge of first-degree sexual abuse after a Wayne County Grand Jury issued an indictment warrant connected to the case.
The investigation began in 2023. Authorities allege Edwards subjected a child under the age of 11 to unwanted sexual contact during the early morning hours while the child was asleep.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office said Edwards was transported to Wayne County Court for arraignment. Additional court appearances are scheduled for a later date.
The investigation was handled by Detective Gaziano of the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
