A Moravia man faces charges after deputies say he resisted arrest while they investigated a reported burglary earlier this week.
The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office said deputies arrested Brandin S. Brown, 40, of Moravia, on May 4 around 7:42 p.m. on charges of second-degree obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest.
According to investigators, deputies were responding to a reported burglary on Church Street in Moravia when they discovered Brown had an active warrant out of Cortland County. Authorities said Brown was informed he was under arrest on the warrant, but allegedly refused to cooperate and resisted efforts to take him into custody.
Deputies eventually took Brown into custody and transported him to the Cayuga County Public Safety Building for processing on the new charges. He was later turned over to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office at the county line so authorities there could execute the warrant, according to the sheriff’s office.
Brown is scheduled to appear in Moravia Village Court on May 18 at 6 p.m.
