Honeycutt captures ARCA, Truck victories at Watkins Glen

Kaden Honeycutt turned a career-defining afternoon into NASCAR history by winning both the ARCA Menards Series General Tire 100 and the Craftsman Truck Series Bully Hill Vineyards 176 at The Glen. The 22-year-old from Texas captured his first career victories in both series within hours of each other, becoming the first driver to sweep ARCA and Truck Series races in the same day at Watkins Glen.

Honeycutt opened the afternoon in dominant fashion in the No. 17 Toyota, quickly separating himself from defending race winner Tristan McKee before holding off Carson Brown and Thomas Annunziata. Despite limited road-course experience entering the weekend, Honeycutt controlled the race late and crossed the finish line with a comfortable margin of victory of nearly 3.5 seconds.

After celebrating in victory lane, Honeycutt climbed into the No. 11 Tricon Garage truck for the evening feature and started seventh. Brent Crews, Ross Chastain and Connor Zilisch spent much of the race at the front while Honeycutt methodically stayed within striking distance inside the top 10.

Late-race cautions dramatically changed the complexion of the race. A restart violation by Gio Ruggiero moved Honeycutt into prime position entering a two-lap overtime restart. Honeycutt then battled Zilisch for the lead, making the decisive move in the closing laps before driving away to complete the unforgettable sweep.

The NASCAR weekend at Watkins Glen continues with the O’Reilly Auto Parts 200 and NASCAR Cup Series action.
