Washington, 42, would work alongside Mets hitting coach Troy Snitker after spending 2026 as the Braves' minor league hitting coordinator.

Atlanta hired Washington in January after he spent the previous two seasons as the Angels' hitting coach, according to MLB.com's report.

Washington previously worked under Green with the Padres from 2017 through 2019, serving as first base coach in 2017 and hitting coach in 2019.

The Mets finished the 2026 season with a .706 OPS, tied for 23rd in the majors.

A native of Long Beach, California, Washington played in the minor leagues from 2003 through 2009 as a middle infielder and never reached the majors.
