Shane van Gisbergen continued his remarkable rookie season Sunday, claiming his fourth consecutive NASCAR Cup Series road course victory at Watkins Glen International.

The Trackhouse Racing driver joined Chase Elliott and Jeff Gordon as the only drivers in series history to win four straight on street or road layouts.
Starting second behind Ryan Blaney, the Auckland, New Zealand, native took his first lead on Lap 25. van Gisbergen’s final pit stop came with 27 laps to go, and by Lap 74, he was back in front, cruising to the finish over Christopher Bell by an 11.116-second margin. Chris Buescher, William Byron, and Chase Briscoe rounded out the top five.
The win was van Gisbergen’s fifth in just 38 Cup starts, trailing only Elliott and Kyle Larson for active road course victories.
The series heads next to Richmond Raceway on August 16 for its lone Cup event at the 0.75-mile short track this season.
