Three ticketed, one charged after traffic stops in Penn Yan

A series of traffic stops in the village of Penn Yan resulted in multiple charges against three drivers, including one case involving a suspended license tied to unpaid child support and missed court appearances.

Penn Yan police said Cole A. Davis, 19, of Brockport, was ticketed after a stop on Elm Street when a DMV check showed the vehicle he was driving had a suspended registration due to an insurance lapse. Davis was charged with operating while registration suspended and released with a ticket to appear in village court.

In a separate stop, Lazena S. Ponder, 40, of Victor, was cited on Liberty Street after officers determined she was driving with a suspended New York driver’s license. Police issued tickets for aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree and an unsecured plate. She is scheduled to appear in Penn Yan Village Court at a later date.

A third driver, Ryan A. Marriott, 40, of Tully, was charged with multiple violations following a traffic stop on Elm Street. Police said a DMV check showed the vehicle he was operating had a suspended registration for lack of insurance. Further investigation revealed Marriott did not have a valid driver’s license and his driving privileges were suspended for failure to pay child support and failure to answer summonses.

Marriott was charged with operating while registration suspended, aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree, unlicensed operation, and operating without insurance. He was released on traffic tickets and is expected to appear in Penn Yan Village Court.
