Nurses at Cayuga Medical Center have filed new federal complaints accusing hospital leaders of threats and surveillance during a tense union battle, according to The Tompkins Weekly.
The union, Communications Workers of America, claims managers retaliated against organizers and stalled contract talks after nurses voted to unionize. Nurses say staffing shortages and patient care concerns drove the push, but negotiations still haven’t formally begun.
Hospital officials deny the allegations and say they’re negotiating in good faith. Federal regulators will now investigate as both sides clash over working conditions, staffing, and the future of care.
