Cornell’s annual men’s hockey banquet doubled as a showcase for standout individual seasons, with senior defenseman Jack O’Brien and junior forward Jonathan Castagna leading a group of multi-award winners.
O’Brien collected four honors to headline the 63rd annual Cornell Hockey Association banquet, while Castagna was named the program’s most valuable player after a breakout offensive campaign.
O’Brien earned the Wendell and Francella Earle Award for academic excellence for the third straight season, along with the Bill Doran Sportsmanship Award, Cornell Hockey Association Award and the Sam Woodside Award for leadership and improvement.
Castagna, meanwhile, posted a team-best 34 points on 15 goals and 19 assists, leading the Big Red in multiple categories while also ranking among the nation’s top faceoff performers.
Several other players were recognized for their contributions, including Jake Kraft, Luke Devlin, Michael Fisher and Xavier Veilleux, as Cornell highlighted both performance and character across its roster.
