A major investment aimed at expanding job training and healthcare access in Cayuga County is moving forward, with Mozaic announcing it has secured more than $630,000 in state-backed funding for its Auburn facility.
The $634,320 in grants will support an expansion of the Center for Community, Arts, and Technology at 180 North St., adding workforce development space and a new clinical wing focused on serving individuals with disabilities and others facing barriers.
Organization leaders say the project is designed to strengthen pathways to employment while also improving access to essential healthcare services. The expansion will include space for occupational therapy, physical therapy, and other clinical supports, all housed within a modernized facility.
The funding comes through partnerships with Empire State Development and the Office for People With Developmental Disabilities, reflecting a broader push to improve economic participation and health outcomes for underserved populations.
Mozaic President and CEO Allen Connely said the investment represents a long-term commitment to expanding opportunities for individuals who often face systemic barriers. Officials say the added workforce development programming will help participants build skills and connect to meaningful employment.
The expansion also comes amid ongoing challenges in workforce participation among people with disabilities. National data shows participation rates remain significantly lower than the general population, a gap local leaders say initiatives like this aim to address.
Mozaic, a chapter of The Arc New York, provides services and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities across the region. Officials say the Auburn project marks a significant step in strengthening both service delivery and economic opportunity in Cayuga County.
