A busy Geneva food pantry that serves hundreds of residents each month is asking the community for volunteers to help keep operations running.
The Salvation Army in Geneva said it needs volunteers to assist at its food pantry on weekdays between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Volunteers help with stocking shelves when food shipments arrive, preparing food bags for clients and organizing pantry inventory.
Other tasks include dating food boxes, rotating inventory for safety and assisting clients during pantry hours.
Officials said volunteers can commit to one day a week, multiple days or another consistent schedule. Training is provided and no prior experience is required.
“Our volunteers are the heart of our food pantry,” said Captain Manuel Sulca of The Salvation Army Geneva Corps.
“A few hours of your time can make a tremendous difference for families in our community.”
The pantry welcomes individuals, students, retirees, workplace teams and community service groups to participate.
