A former Geneva cop will trade his badge for 16 weekends behind bars, according to the Finger Lakes Times.
Prosecutors say Michael Tapscott accepted a plea deal in Ontario County Court after a second indictment added more drug charges. Special prosecutor Christine Callanan said he pleaded guilty to 40 counts, including felony drug possession and sale, official misconduct, and petit larceny. The deal gives him five years of probation.
Investigators say Tapscott, a 13-year veteran of the Geneva Police Department, solicited officers and civilians to buy or sell drugs while on and off duty. Authorities also say he traded ammunition and prescription medication for controlled substances. A judge will sentence him April 23.
