Authorities arrested a man following an investigation into contraband inside the Cayuga County Jail.
Joseph M. Montesano, 29, of Auburn, was charged March 12 with second-degree possession of contraband in prison, a misdemeanor.
The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office said the investigation began in March after allegations that Montesano possessed contraband while incarcerated in the county jail.
Investigators said the findings established probable cause for the charge.
Montesano was arrested and is scheduled to be arraigned in Centralized Arraignment Part Court later the same evening.
