Rochester hit-and-run driver caught in Ontario County heads to prison

A pickup truck slammed into a 62-year-old bicyclist at Norton and North Streets, and the driver sped off, according to police. Investigators say he was drunk and had a child in the truck.

Prosecutors later identified the driver as 52-year-old Bruce Bugbee. Monroe County Court sentenced him Tuesday to two and one-third to seven years in state prison for first-degree vehicular assault.

State Police tracked him down in Ontario County after the February crash. Officers arrested him on charges that included vehicular manslaughter and aggravated DWI under Leandra’s Law.
