A 911 call from a Penn Yan hotel led to a multi-agency arrest and a long list of charges for a Staten Island man.
Mitchell A. Pringle, 38, was arrested after police investigated what they described as an ongoing domestic altercation.
Penn Yan Police said officers responded to the hotel after receiving the emergency call. Before they arrived, the parties left the area in a vehicle.
Officers contacted the victim by phone. She answered and kept the line open. Police said it became clear that she and her children could not exit the vehicle and no longer wished to be with Pringle.
Investigators tracked the vehicle as it entered the city of Elmira. When the vehicle stopped for gas, the victim fled. Elmira Police then stopped the suspect and took him into custody.
Police said the victim and two children in the vehicle were protected parties under an order of protection against Pringle.
Authorities transported Pringle back to the Penn Yan Police Department.
Police charged him with criminal contempt in the first degree, criminal contempt in the second degree, petit larceny, two counts of criminal mischief in the fourth degree, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
Officers also discovered that Pringle had an outstanding warrant from Massachusetts after being indicted for cocaine trafficking.
A court arraigned Pringle in Yates County CAP Court and held him without bail due to two prior felony convictions. Officials also held him as a fugitive from justice while he awaits an extradition hearing on the Massachusetts warrant.
Pringle will reappear in Yates County Superior Court at a later date to answer both matters.
