Port Byron man charged with felony drug possession in Auburn

AUBURN — A Port Byron man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after Auburn police responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle behind a Genesee Street business.

According to the Auburn Police Department, officers were dispatched around 3:13 p.m. Feb. 10 to the parking lot behind Advance Auto Parts at 317 Genesee St. Upon arrival, officers found a vehicle occupied by a single individual, later identified as 56-year-old Douglas H. Wilson of Port Byron.

Police said Wilson was asleep in the vehicle. After waking him and conducting further investigation, officers reported locating a quantity of cocaine inside the vehicle.

Wilson was taken into custody and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, a class B felony.

He was transported to the Cayuga County Jail for centralized arraignment proceedings on the morning of Feb. 11. Police said Wilson was arraigned on the charge and later released on his own recognizance pending further court proceedings.
