Two hospitalized after car hits utility pole in Cayuga County

Two people were taken to Upstate University Hospital after a vehicle struck a utility pole on Conquest Road in Cayuga County, according to updates from the Cayuga/Seneca Fire Wire.

Port Byron and Conquest firefighters and Jordan Ambulance were dispatched to the crash, which was initially reported with entrapment. Emergency crews later began an extrication while additional responders assisted with traffic control.

Dispatchers checked the availability of a medical helicopter, but the medevac response was later canceled in favor of ground transportation. Fire Wire reported that one patient was freed from the vehicle and turned over to Jordan Ambulance.

Two people were ultimately transported to Upstate University Hospital, according to information previously reported by FingerLakes1.com.

The crash happened shortly before a separate serious crash in Fair Haven where two people were hospitalized.

No information about the identities or conditions of those involved was immediately available. Authorities also had not released information about what caused the crash.
