A Mentz man faces three misdemeanor criminal contempt charges after deputies said he attended a Port Byron school sporting event while three people protected by a stay-away order were there.
The Cayuga County Sheriff's Office identified the man as David Jones, 36, and said the reported encounter happened Thursday evening at the school.
The Port Byron School District contacted deputies about a possible violation at about 11:05 a.m. Friday, according to the sheriff's arrest release.
Deputies said the order barred Jones from contact with the three protected people, from being around them and from being at their school.
Deputies located and arrested Jones at about 10 a.m. Saturday, then took him to the Public Safety Building for processing before his arraignment in centralized court.
A judge set bail at $2,000 cash or a $4,000 secured bond, the sheriff's office said.
Jones is scheduled to appear in Port Byron Village Court at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
