She won by just 11 votes — then walked away before taking office. According to The Citizen, Karynn Kilts never became Locke’s town supervisor after alleging intimidation and bullying following her narrow November victory.
Kilts said persistent calls and pressure pushed her to resign before her Jan. 1 swearing-in. A resident claimed board members urged her to step aside and warned they had removed officials before. Kilts later pointed to red flags and a pattern that discouraged dissent.
The town board accepted her resignation in December and reappointed Thane Benson, the candidate she defeated. Benson denied any bullying and said the job demands experience and time. He’s now running for a full two-year term.
