A crumbling schoolhouse, cold meetings, and falling bird droppings finally pushed Locke leaders to act — and now they’re celebrating, according to The Citizen.
Officials opened a newly renovated town hall and justice center at 1215 Route 38, inside a former sporting goods store the town bought for $305,000. Leaders ditched plans to remodel the old building after running into flood risks, ADA issues, and parking problems.
Construction wrapped up weeks early and under budget. Renovations cost about $823,000, thanks to scaled-back designs, secondhand furniture, and contractor savings. The town court began holding sessions there in early December.
Town staff and residents say the new Town of Locke facility feels safer, more efficient, and far more comfortable.
