President Donald Trump signed a $1.2 trillion funding bill Tuesday night, ending a partial federal shutdown after a razor-thin House vote, according to the Associated Press. The measure funds most of the government through Sept. 30.
The relief may be brief. The bill only covers the Department of Homeland Security for two weeks, setting up another clash over immigration enforcement and ICE operations. House Democrats, led by Hakeem Jeffries, are demanding major changes.
House Speaker Mike Johnson expects a deal, but Senate Majority Leader John Thune signaled skepticism as the Feb. 13 deadline approaches.
