Cornell controlled the game from the outset, getting goals from Mckenna Van Gelder, Nora Curtis and Grace Dwyer while relying on a strong defensive effort and standout goaltending from Annelies Bergmann, who finished with 35 saves, including 14 in the third period. The Big Red limited Brown to a single goal despite five penalties, as the penalty kill repeatedly turned away scoring chances.

Van Gelder opened the scoring eight minutes into the first period, finishing a rebound off a chance created by Avi Adam. Brown had two power-play opportunities in the opening frame, but Cornell’s penalty-kill unit held firm to preserve the early lead.

Curtis doubled the advantage in the second period, again capitalizing on a rebound in front of the net. Brown pressed to get on the board with additional power-play chances, but Bergmann made seven saves during four minutes of second-period penalty time to keep the Big Red ahead 2-0.

Dwyer extended the lead early in the third period with Cornell’s third unanswered goal. Brown finally broke through on a late power-play tally by Monique Lyons, but the deficit proved too much to overcome. Cornell closed out the win to secure its first road victory since November.
