HS BASKETBALL REPORT: Gananda’s Cooper Grassel joins 1,000-point club; Landon Washburn scores 37 for Honeoye

Thursday night brought a small slate of Wayne-Finger Lakes high school hoops, with many of the games ending in lopsided fashion. Two performances, however, stood out.

In Wayne County, Gananda junior Cooper Grassel put on a shooting display, knocking down 10 three-pointers on his way to 32 points. Grassel also surpassed the 1,000-point milestone as the Panthers rolled past Williamson to improve to 10-1.

Elsewhere, Honeoye junior Landon Washburn continued his torrid scoring pace, pouring in 37 points in a blowout win over Red Jacket to keep the Bulldogs unbeaten at 8-0. Washburn has now topped 30 points in four straight games and seven of eight this season, lifting his scoring average to 36.5 points per game.
