Dansville airport costs spark tax fears

Rising costs and FAA pressure put the future of Dansville Municipal Airport in doubt during a packed town forum, according to News10NBC. North Dansville leaders warned residents that keeping the airport open could mean steady tax hikes over the next several years.

Town Supervisor Gregery Horr said the airport runs at a deficit and could cost homeowners hundreds of dollars through 2030 if taxes rise to cover expenses. The debate follows FAA warnings over nearby construction cranes that block the runway and threaten federal funding.

Supporters argued the Dansville Municipal Airport brings economic and regional value that budgets can’t easily measure. Town officials also noted federal funding rules may make closure difficult, even if the board wants to move forward.
