Two Democrats join majority Republican board in Seneca County

For the first time in years, Democrats will join the Seneca County Board of Supervisors when new terms begin Jan. 1, according to the Finger Lakes Times. Voters ousted two Republican incumbents in November, ending the board’s all-GOP makeup.

Democrat Ted Young defeated longtime Waterloo supervisor Don Trout, returning Young to a role he previously held. In Seneca Falls, Democrat Jennifer Kuplinski Wick secured one of two supervisor seats, edging out a Republican incumbent in a tight four-way race.

Republicans will still hold a majority on the 14-member board, but the election marks a political shift as Democrats gain representation at the county level.
