Bills part ways with WR Mecole Hardman after brief stint

The Buffalo Bills made a handful of roster moves ahead of Sunday’s Week 17 matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles, parting ways with a veteran wide receiver in the process.

The team announced Saturday it has released Mecole Hardman, who joined the roster in November as Buffalo searched for answers at wide receiver. Hardman’s stint with the Bills was brief and largely uneventful. After signing, he was quickly placed on injured reserve and missed several weeks. Although he was activated earlier this month, he did not record a reception in two games, seeing just one target. Hardman’s primary contributions came on special teams. He returned two punts for four yards and one kickoff for 61 yards, but also committed a fumble during his limited time on the field.

Along with Hardman’s release, the Bills signed tight end Keleki Latu to the active roster and elevated kicker Michael Badgley and defensive end Andre Jones Jr. from the practice squad. Badgley was elevated for the second straight week as Matt Prater continues to deal with a right quad injury.

The decision to add Latu suggests Buffalo may be shorthanded at tight end. Dalton Kincaid and Dawson Knox are both listed as questionable.

Kickoff for Sunday’s game against the Eagles is set for 4:25 p.m. as Buffalo looks to make it five straight wins.
