Big lottery wins hit New York towns

New York lottery players across the state woke up to big news after multiple winning tickets turned up in stores from Long Island to the North Country.

One jackpot ticket worth $13.9 million was sold in Hicksville for the Dec. 24 New York LOTTO drawing.

The winning ticket was sold at Lovely Cards and Gifts on South Oyster Bay Road. The ticket matched all six numbers: 4, 11, 23, 38, 41 and 49, with a bonus number of 26. New York LOTTO drawings take place every Wednesday and Saturday evening.

Smaller wins spread across the state

Several other players also scored sizable prizes in the same day of drawings.

In Watertown, a TAKE 5 Midday ticket worth $21,469.50 was sold at Quicklees #09 on State Route 342. TAKE 5 numbers are drawn from a field of one through 39, with drawings held twice daily.

Eight third-prize Powerball tickets, each worth $50,000, were sold in Camillus, Cortlandt Manor, Holtsville, Islandia, Long Beach, Mahopac, Montauk and Niagara Falls. Powerball drawings air Monday, Wednesday and Saturday nights.

All lottery prizes in New York may be claimed up to one year from the drawing date.

The New York Lottery reported it contributed $3.6 billion in the 2024–2025 fiscal year to support public schools statewide. Officials also reminded players that help for problem gambling is available through NYProblemGamblingHelp.org or by calling the confidential HOPEline.
