Vehicle pursuit ends in DWI arrest in Williamson

A vehicle pursuit that began in Palmyra ended when deputies used a spike strip to stop a fleeing driver in Williamson.

Jordan Hayes, 27, of Locust Street in Williamson, was arrested after the chase ended with a crash on Tuckahoe Road.

State Troopers said the pursuit started in Palmyra before continuing into Marion.

Wayne County deputies deployed a spike strip on Tuckahoe Road in Williamson, flattening the vehicle’s tires and causing it to crash.

Troopers then took Hayes into custody at the scene.

Authorities charged Hayes with felony driving while intoxicated due to a prior DWI conviction.

He also faces charges of obstructing governmental administration in the second degree, reckless endangerment, and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance for Suboxone.

Troopers transported Hayes to the Wayne County Jail for CAP Court arraignment.

He was later released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in Williamson Town Court on March 11.
