Emergency crews in Aurora now have a new ambulance on the road after months of fundraising and planning.
The Aurora Volunteer Fire Department placed the new ambulance into service at 4 p.m. Saturday.
Community donations helped fund the purchase. The department raised $120,000 through a public fundraiser and a memorial fund.
The Aurora-Ledyard Fire District equipment fund covered the remaining cost.
Fire officials thanked residents who contributed to the effort, saying the support helps ensure crews have the equipment needed to respond to emergencies across the district.
North Eastern Rescue Vehicles assisted with completing the ambulance project.
