Savannah man arrested on drug charges after investigation

Deputies arrested a Savannah man after serving an arrest warrant tied to a summer traffic stop in the Town of Lyons.

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office said deputies took Kevin J. Himes, 39, of Prospect Street into custody on a warrant issued by Wayne County Supreme Court.

Deputies charged Himes with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree, and two counts of criminal use of drug paraphernalia in the second degree.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the charges stem from a traffic stop in July on Leach Road in Lyons. Deputies located methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle during that stop.

Authorities said New York State Police initially picked up Himes on a separate investigation. Troopers later turned him over to Wayne County deputies.

Deputies transported Himes to the Wayne County Jail, where he was held to await Superior Court.
