Environmental advocates are accusing Lansing’s Zoning Board of Appeals of bias as it prepares to rule on TeraWulf’s push to build an AI data center, Tompkins Weekly reports.
TeraWulf wants its proposed facility at the old Cayuga Power Plant reclassified as a permitted use under local zoning laws. A Dec. 16 public hearing will precede a final vote. But critics say board chair Jack Young’s email to ZBA applicants — downplaying the board’s role in the issue — suggests the outcome is predetermined.
Young denies any bias, saying his comments were misunderstood and meant to discourage single-issue activists from joining the board.
