Geneva administrator accused of kissing student told mother it was ‘all in good fun’

The mother of a Geneva High School student says former assistant principal James J. Nunez tried to brush off the allegation that he kissed her 16-year-old son, telling her it was “all in good fun” when she confronted him at the school, according to RochesterFirst.com. Police later arrested Nunez, 50, charging him with endangering the welfare of a child and second-degree harassment.

Krystal Nardozzi said she rushed to the high school after hearing from another parent. She said Nunez made the comment before knowing who she was, refused to call 911, and that a school counselor later attempted to downplay what happened. Her son told her he froze when Nunez allegedly hugged him from behind, called him “my sweetie,” and kissed him on the cheek. She also said this was not the first time her son had felt uneasy around the administrator.

Police say the incident occurred Nov. 18 inside the school building and involved no other students. Officers took Nunez into custody Tuesday around 4 p.m., nearly two weeks after the initial report. He was processed at the Geneva Police Department and taken to the Ontario County Jail to await arraignment.

Authorities are continuing the investigation alongside the Ontario County District Attorney’s Office and the Geneva City School District. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Geneva Police Department or Detective Jordan Dobies. Anonymous tips are accepted.
