Cornell men’s basketball couldn’t keep pace with Towson’s explosive second half, falling 93-80 on Wednesday night at SECU Arena. The Big Red dropped to 5-4 after their second straight road loss, while the Tigers improved to 6-3 behind a dominant performance after halftime.

Towson erupted for nearly 76 percent shooting in the second half and outscored Cornell 58-44 over the final 20 minutes. Tyler Tejada powered the surge with 26 points, including six 3-pointers, and eight rebounds. The Tigers controlled the interior as well, finishing with a 38-25 edge on the glass and converting 16 offensive rebounds into 20 second-chance points. Dylan Williamson added 15 points and eight assists as Towson pulled away for good.
Cornell shot an efficient 54 percent from the field but couldn’t match the Tigers’ sustained scoring. Jake Fiegen paced the Big Red with 19 points, while Adam Hinton added 17, hitting five of his six 3-point attempts. Cooper Noard scored 14 and Kaspar Sepp contributed 12 points, six rebounds and four assists. Cornell, however, went just 6-for-19 from deep and couldn’t slow Towson’s surge after briefly tying the game at 48-48 with 16 minutes left.
A 24-12 Towson run broke the game open, highlighted by Tejada’s go-ahead three and a series of finishes in transition and around the rim. Cornell never cut the deficit to single digits again as the Tigers shot 25-for-33 after halftime and 11-for-22 from long range overall.
Cornell concludes its pre-exam schedule on Sunday at Samford, with tipoff set for 7 p.m.
