Gov. Kathy Hochul has signed a law creating New York’s first state-sponsored Holocaust memorial, set to rise at Albany’s Empire State Plaza, according to State of Politics.
The memorial will share a full history of the Holocaust and survivor testimonies, serving as a public space for education and reflection. Hochul said the project reaffirms the state’s stance against antisemitism and all forms of hate.
The Office of General Services will manage the design and site planning, joining other memorials at the plaza honoring historic events and communities.
