A violent robbery outside a hotel in Victor ended with a police chase across county lines and two men in custody early Friday morning.
Deputies say it started just after 3 a.m. at the Microtel Hotel on County Road 42. A victim ran into the lobby saying they’d been attacked by two men — one of them armed with a knife — who then stole their car.
An Ontario County Sheriff’s Deputy spotted the stolen vehicle heading north on State Route 96 and tried to pull it over. That’s when the suspects took off. The chase continued toward the Monroe County line, with New York State Police and Monroe County deputies joining in.
Near Rustic Pines, both suspects bailed from the vehicle and ran. One of them, 26-year-old Yavier Harris of Buffalo, was caught after a short foot chase. The other suspect, 23-year-old English Reynolds — also from Buffalo — was tracked down using a drone and K9 unit from Rochester Police.
Investigators say the robbery was targeted, and the suspects knew the victim. The victim refused medical treatment, and there’s no ongoing threat to the public.
Both men are awaiting arraignment.
Reynolds faces felony charges of robbery, assault, criminal contempt, and grand larceny, along with multiple traffic violations, including fleeing police and reckless driving. Harris is charged with robbery, assault, resisting arrest, criminal possession of a weapon, and grand larceny.
