Two people have died after being hit by a vehicle Tuesday evening in the town of Charlton.
State Police say the crash happened around 5:18 p.m. near the intersection of Charlton Road and Maple Avenue. Both pedestrians were taken to area hospitals with severe injuries, but later died, according to an update released Tuesday night.
The driver stayed at the scene and has been cooperative with investigators. State Police are continuing to investigate the incident and reconstruct the crash.
Charlton Road, which was temporarily closed between Stage Road and Swaggertown Road, has since reopened.
