The Town of Ovid’s elected highway superintendent has stepped down, leaving a key leadership role vacant just ahead of winter.
Jeremy Huff resigned from his post on November 21, according to a statement from Town Supervisor Joe Borst.
For now, the deputy highway superintendent will take over day-to-day operations until voters choose a new leader in the 2026 election. Under New York State law, the town has already notified the state Board of Elections of the vacancy.
In a brief public statement, Borst said the town board remains focused on keeping roads safe and making sure taxpayer money is used wisely.
No reason was given for Huff’s resignation, and the town said no further statements will be made at this time.
