The Buffalo Bills made room for newly signed wide receiver Brandin Cooks on Wednesday by releasing Elijah Moore, one day after adding Cooks to the 53-man roster.
Moore arrived late in the offseason with the hope that pairing him with Josh Allen would jump-start his career after four uneven seasons with the New York Jets and Cleveland Browns. That boost never materialized. He struggled to carve out a consistent role in the offense, logging only 186 snaps and finishing with nine receptions for 112 yards.
It was a disappointing return for a player who joined the Bills on a fully guaranteed $2.5 million deal, a signing that has come to symbolize the team’s season-long challenge in assembling a reliable receiving corps.
Even with Cooks now in the mix and Moore out, Buffalo still has a crowded receiver room. Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman, Curtis Samuel, Joshua Palmer and Tyrell Shavers remain on the 53-man roster, while Gabe Davis continues to work on the practice squad but only has one more gameday elevation before he needs to be added to the active roster.
