A massive wastewater overhaul in Wayne County just turned into a national success story, according to The Times of Wayne County.
The Wayne County Water and Sewer Authority won a top honor from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for uniting multiple towns into one modern system. The project replaced four aging plants with a single facility serving Marion, Macedon, Walworth, and Palmyra.
Backed by more than $100 million in state and federal funding, the system improves water quality and cuts long-term costs. Local leaders say the collaboration eased financial strain while bringing the region into full environmental compliance.
