A former top New York state official is accused of secretly working for China while steering millions in pandemic contracts to Chinese firms, according to the Times Union.
Linda Sun allegedly used her state roles to block Taiwan diplomacy, funnel contracts to family-linked companies, and collect $2.3 million in kickbacks. Prosecutors say she and her husband spent the proceeds on luxury homes, cars, and gifts from the Chinese consulate — including salted ducks.
Sun, who served under both Govs. Cuomo and Hochul, denies the charges. Her federal trial begins this week in Brooklyn and could lead to decades in prison if convicted.
