The Hobart men’s basketball team earned its first win of the season in dominant fashion, rolling past St. John Fisher 93-58 on Tuesday night. Four Statesmen scored in double figures, led by sophomore Monty Nedd, who posted a game-high 19 points, six rebounds, and three assists.

Junior Alex Moesch added 17 points, five boards, and four steals, while classmate Dorian Paki shot 6-for-9 from the floor for 14 points and matched Moesch with four steals. Senior Gabriel Bergeron tallied 10 points and six rebounds as Hobart (1-1) shot nearly 60 percent in the first half and never looked back.
After the teams were tied 4-4 early, Hobart went on a 26-9 surge sparked by a three-point play from Nedd. Moesch and Bergeron each added five points during the run, and Paki’s dunk before halftime pushed the lead to 48-28. The Statesmen stayed hot after the break, holding a double-digit advantage throughout and sealing the win with a 20-0 run midway through the second half. First-year Harrison Muntner scored seven points during that stretch.
Hobart’s 93 points marked its highest total in the 54-game history against St. John Fisher and its biggest margin of victory in the series. The Cardinals (1-2) were led by Jonathan McCaffrey and Maximus Michalski, who each scored 10 points.
The Statesmen return to action on Tuesday, November 18, at Keuka College.
