Fewer New York teens are using tobacco than ever before, with just 17% of high schoolers reporting use, according to a new state report.
Traditional smoking is down to 2%, while e-cigarette use dropped from 19% to 13% since 2022. But use of nicotine pouches has doubled, and vaping still leads among youth. Health officials warn flavored products and aggressive marketing remain a risk.
State programs like DropTheVape and the Quitline aim to cut use further, but federal funding cuts could slow progress.
