A 67-year-old Remsen man was found dead in a tree stand at Gilbert Lake State Park after failing to return from a hunting trip, according to the DEC.
His wife reported him missing the night of Oct. 16. Crews searched overnight and found him just after 3:30 a.m. the next day. Rangers used ropes to recover the body. The cause of death hasn’t been released.
The park spans over 1,500 acres in Otsego County near the northern Catskills.
