The program gives free energy efficiency upgrades to low- and moderate-income New Yorkers. Advocates fear reduced funding and tighter eligibility rules could undermine it. NYSERDA denies any cuts, citing over $600 million from state and regulatory sources.
Gov. Hochul’s office says she plans to keep energy costs down and may add more funds in next year’s budget.
