Gov. Kathy Hochul vetoed seven bills from Sen. James Skoufis, and he’s calling it political payback, according to State of Politics.
Skoufis is investigating a $9B Medicaid home care overhaul and says the vetoes — including bills on FOIL deadlines and EV safety training — came as his probe advanced. He claims Hochul’s team tried to steer the contract and is now retaliating.
Hochul says the bills were unworkable and defends her Medicaid reforms as a crackdown on waste. Skoufis plans to reintroduce the bills next session.
