Geneva’s ethics board has ruled that City Councilor Ahmad Whitfield and Planning Board member Dave D’Amico violated the city’s code of ethics, according to the Finger Lakes Times. Whitfield was cited for making off-topic personal remarks during an April council meeting, while D’Amico was flagged for not recusing himself from a YMCA project tied to his plumbing business.
Whitfield called the complaint selective and said he already reconciled with the person involved. D’Amico denied wrongdoing, saying he wasn’t involved in the project at the time of the vote and called the complaint baseless.
The ethics rulings carry no penalties but could result in recommendations or censure.
