Hobart soccer edges Ithaca to extend unbeaten start

After Ithaca’s Jared Krasnove opened the scoring less than two minutes in, Phillips converted a 16th-minute penalty to tie it. Four minutes later, he gave Hobart the lead with a curling strike from 25 yards out. The Bombers equalized in the second half through Ikey Borden, but the Statesmen answered in the 68th minute when Phillips set up sophomore Danny Spataro, who chipped home the decisive goal.

Senior goalkeeper Tommy Chyzowych made three saves, including a late stop on Ithaca’s Cameron Wooten, to preserve the win. The Statesmen outshot the Bombers 18–11 and held an 8–5 edge in shots on goal.

The victory extends Hobart’s unbeaten start to 11 games (9-0-2, 4-0-1 Liberty League), its best since 2008. Ithaca dropped to 6-3-2 overall and 0-2-1 in league play.
