Four-vehicle crash in Union sends two to hospital

Two people were taken to the hospital after a chain-reaction crash involving four vehicles in the town of Union, state police said.

Troopers responded to the scene just after 5:15 p.m. on September 29 along Union Center Maine Highway. Investigators say three vehicles were stopped in traffic when a Chevrolet Trail Blazer crashed into the back of a 2006 Toyota Corolla. That impact caused the Corolla to hit a 2017 GMC Acadia, which then struck a 2022 Chevrolet pickup truck in front of it.

The driver of the Trail Blazer, 58-year-old Michele Lynn Drossos of Endicott, was ticketed at the scene. Drossos and a 14-year-old female passenger were not injured.

The crash sent two drivers to Wilson Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries:

  • Ryan Marcelo Freita, 26, of Endicott, who was driving the Toyota Corolla
  • Charles N. Mann, 63, of Endicott, who was driving the GMC Acadia

A 56-year-old woman riding in the Acadia, as well as the driver and a 37-year-old female passenger in the Chevrolet pickup, were not hospitalized.

State Police in Endwell are continuing the investigation.
