A Geneva man is facing multiple charges after police say he was found intoxicated and asleep in a running car in a Penn Yan municipal lot.
Jacob J. Diehm, 27, was arrested around 6:15 a.m. on September 20 after officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle with its driver-side door open and engine running.
Police say they found Diehm asleep behind the wheel with the car’s lights still on — and observed that he had vomited and defecated on the pavement nearby. Officers said he showed signs of intoxication and failed field sobriety tests at the scene.
He was taken to the Yates County Jail for a breath test, which showed a blood alcohol content of .12%. Diehm was charged with DWI, DWI with a BAC of .08% or higher, and disorderly conduct. He was later released on tickets to appear in Penn Yan Village Court.
