No. 23 Cornell men’s soccer blanks Western Michigan

No. 23 Cornell men’s soccer rolled past Western Michigan, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon at Berman Field, improving to 3-1-0 on the season while the Broncos slipped to 1-6-0.

Andrew Johnson opened the scoring in the 29th minute on a feed from Giorgos Diakos, who later set up another goal. Kasper Wollstein doubled the lead moments after coming off the bench, finishing a three-on-one breakaway. Westin Carnevale added the insurance marker in the 57th minute to seal Cornell’s first-ever win over Western Michigan.

Goalkeeper Ryan Friedberg made four saves to secure his third clean sheet of the year. The Big Red weathered early pressure from the Broncos before taking control of possession and dictating the pace of play.
