Bath woman charged after alleged domestic incident and assault on officers

A Bath woman is facing multiple charges after allegedly attempting to assault police officers during a domestic incident last week.

According to the Village of Bath Police Department, officers were dispatched to a residence on Ash Street around 12:11 a.m. on August 29 for a reported physical domestic in progress. When officers arrived, they encountered 37-year-old Samantha M. Thomas, who was described as highly intoxicated and uncooperative.

Police say that as the investigation unfolded, Thomas repeatedly tried to physically injure multiple officers at the scene. She was taken into custody and charged with one count of Obstructing Governmental Administration in the 2nd Degree, a Class A misdemeanor, and one count of Attempted Assault in the 2nd Degree, a Class E felony.

Thomas was processed and transported to the Steuben County Jail for CAP arraignment, after which she was released.
